Printable Recipe

1½-2 lbs stew beef - cut in small pieces
1 (14.5 oz) can diced or stewed tomatoes broken up
5 tablespoons dry onion soup mix (equals 1 package of Lipton)
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons cornstarch
¼ cup water
Hot cooked rice

Combine meat, tomatoes, onion soup mix and beef broth in slow cooker. 
Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours
Combine cornstarch with water.  Add to slow cooker with meat, turn to high and continue cooking about 30 more minutes until thickened.
Serve over rice.

Serves 3-4

I was just indicating on the recipe that 5 tablespoons of my mix equals one package of Lipton so anyone who wasn't concerned about gluten could use Lipton if they wanted to. According to the Lipton website any ingredients that may contain gluten are always listed on the label. When I looked at the package at the store there weren't any gluten ingredients listed but it did say that the mix was produced in a facility that processes wheat. Reply | Quote 0   0

I'm confident that Lipton basic onion soup is gluten free (the beefy onion contains gluten), because I'm super sensitive and have never reacted. I know a lot of people say they are ok with the Lipton mix, it's been so long since I used them I don't remember if I had a reaction to them or not.
